Castlewoods's gonna bury it. Then on to Jaz. The one thing Jaz has going for it is installed base. But to attract new buyers, they will have to cut prices so drastically, they will lose more and more money with each drive sold. Castlewood's 2.16 Gig Orb offers superior technology, capacity, and speed with a much lower cost. You can be sure Aiwa and Sanyo (Castlewood's business partners) have the resources to crank these babies out.

Iomega is the volume loss-leader in this drive niche. I see no reason why this trend isn't going to continue, and even accelerate with all of the competition slated to roll out during Spring/Summer.

IOM 2nd Quarter losses (-.05›). In fact, 4th Quarter 1997 may have been the last Quarter Iomega ever sees a profit for a long, long time.
