Frank, re. split, see the Bloomberg article (Post # 1535):

Although Pfizer is interested in splitting its stock, the
company doesn't have enough authorized shares and would need to
call a special shareholders' meeting to do so before next year,
he [Steere] said.

From the horse's mouth. I guess we would have to believe him.

Steere said a split could be achieved either by convening another meeting of shareholders late in 1998 ''or waiting until this time next year for the next annual shareholder meeting.

By that time PFE stock will be priced so that a 3:1 or 4:1 split will be needed.

Buy now, avoid the price increase.
