In defense of LEAPS. Sure the Q LEAPS have not done well - yet. But it is a long long time to Jan 2000. If the 4th qtr is the beginning of a major onward and upward trend (big if, but strong possibility IMO) then LEAPS could be a way to multiply that movement with good results in $s. Mention this since my experience as a novice is in the Q and Loral. My Loral LEAPS have more than doubled to date. Not too bad on a LOR move from low 20s to low 30s. At least not a throw away. Just cite this as fact. In no way am I making any recommendation to anyone. Think LEAPS are secondary to owning stock as core - just a possible supplement. But to each his own and everything depends on personal circumstances and sleep at night factor. Cheers. Chaz
