Is there a connection between the trading you describe and the company's buyback?

Quite frankly, I'm curious to see what the the rationale is behind the buy-back being announced now. Long-term stockholder value would have benefited most if the buy-back was announced last October after the plunge. This doesn't take hindsight to recognize. My first reaction is to be cynical of the timing and suggest that the intention is to help the price go higher. This is purely speculative, but maybe they had reasons to with respect to the ESOP. A few months ago they announced that the exercise price of options was being reduce. Perhaps the new exercise price is based on a sliding scale tied to target market prices? Possible.

If you're asking whether the HMQT purchases may have been partial fulfillment of the buy-back, I suppose that's possible, but I would expect that the press release would have said that the buy-back had begun.
