I don't like the idea that 3dfx would be bought by anyone. I think the price to be paid would be lower than 35$. I don't think AMD would be a candidate for it, more likely would be IBM. AMD has no money for it, I think.
However, a little takeover speculation would be nice.
Again and again I deliberate about what I would do to strengthen 3dfx's position as an official there.
I have a dream, It would be an announcement of the development of a Java based chip which allows integration into a netbrowser enviroment to simulate virtual cities or malls. Where you can walk through and go shopping. They already did the first step into this direction with their recent announcement and their 3d world which can be downloaded. If this would happen they would be valued with similar PE's as the other Internet stocks. And the best would be if they started a cooperation with Yahoo, Netscape, or Microsoft to realize this idea.

So far Ralph

"They are speculating the the reason TDFX brass are/were in NYC
meeting with Merril Lynch is because AMD is about to buy them as a competitive response to Intel. I am _highly_ skeptical."

I agree Chip. With what money are they attempting to do this?
