I've got to agree with you on that LT. These financial "news" shows are usually a joke. Just like the nightly mainstreannews. If it's what they want to hear the "good news" is hyped, hyped, hyped. If it's bad then they skip over it like a bad odor in good company....pretending like it isn't really there.

Now for some encouragement for thr TDW crowd. Here's the chart(I know...TA doesn't mean much!).http://207.95.154.130/chart/default.asp?period=120&time=week&chart=candle&chart1=ma&volume=y&rsi=y&stochastics=y&momentum=y&symbol=TDW

This is the weekly...every time TDW is ready to make a big up move there has been a sharp sell off the week prior to it...then, within 2 weeks TDW was back in stride. Can't say if this will be a repeat but the similarities to last year are amazing. Down early in the year, then attempt up, sharp sell off, then just up till the end of the year.

>>Explaining away steep declines as just profit taking after a HUGE run-up????<<

It cracks me up too. Hasn't it occurred to them that the folks who bought at the top are engaged in "loss-taking"? !!!

Lucretius, come on. All the things you mention ($ levels low, public participation, interest rates...which are still very low, etc.) have all been hovering around today's levels for a very long time. You've got to give some kind of fundamental reason for your theory other than that stuff...because that stuff would have been keeping you out of the market for years.

I know I am the perma-bull, long term investor here, but I can't accept a random theory for a correction unless you support it with some kind of data. You will be right someday, maybe Monday, but you haven't really told us why you might be right.

Once again, trying to keep the mix going.
