Wben: thanks for your response, but won't new computer buyers have a choice by the year-end to purchase the Sun/IBM OS versus Win 98? at least this is the sun/ibm plan - to have an available OS by mid-year written in java.

From a recent article on thestreet.com

The article is well balanced, but if you want to read the anti MSFT stuff you will have to subscribe... I ain't posting that! hehehe

"Both Intel's (INTC:Nasdaq) and Compaq's (CPQ:NYSE) CFOs alluded to the product during this quarter's conference calls, saying they were expecting an uptick in revenue growth in the second half due to Windows 98."

"Michael Kwatinetz, an analyst with Deutsche Morgan Grenfell who has a buy rating on the stock, believes that since there are three times as many PC consumers out there than there were when Windows 95 was launched, he wouldn't be surprised if upgrade revenues exceeded those for Windows 95."
