Sherry Katz from Quarterdeck provided us with additional information today relevant to our trip to their corporate office on Wednesday. Her e-mail message is posted along with the original trip report at:

To answer some of the previous questions, we visit local companies here in Southern California who we think are quality organizations and undervalued. QDEK fell into that category. We are currently evaluating five other companies. We do this for fun as several members are retired (and living quite comfortably I might add).

If anyone lives near a company that they like, then e-mail us and we will develop the research. Right now there are no fees involved because of SEC rules. We have requested SEC exemption for our group because it falls outside the normal RIA and stock broker/dealer criteria but we have not yet received a ruling.
