I am not sure how to respond to your post, DScottD. But I am smiling a wry, bemused Mona Lisa smile at the moment. I must say, this new generation of men at the Feelings thread is really very revealing of their feelings, and that is nice to see. I believe we are even discussing different ways of making love which would definitely bring the wrath of God on other threads (but not this one).

But are you saying that what is good for the gander is not at all good for the goose? I think that is certainly the way most heterosexual men feel.

It is not surprising that you like carrots. In his book "Greene on Greens", Bert Greene talks of the carrot's sexual reputation coming from its obvious erotic design. I am not sure whether I have already written this in a post, but I find it amazing, so I will repeat it. According to Greene, Caligula is purported to have once fed the entire Roman Senate a banquet composed solely of carrot dishes, in one form or another, just to observe these high-minded gentlemen "fornicating like beasts of the field."

It is reputed that if you call this dish "carrot candy", even carrot-hating children will like it:

Glazed Carrots

6 young carrots, cut in 2-inch fingers
4 T butter
2 T brown sugar
3/4 tsp. salt

Cook carrots barely covered in water 15 to 20 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup liquid.

Add butter, brown sugar and salt to cooked carrots in saucepan along with reserved carrot liquid. Stir gently over low heat to glaze carrots.

Serves 4

DScottD,

Hmmm, yet another man who likes broccoli. Let's see, that makes seven known documented cases so far. Still an extreme rarity.

Hi, DScottD!!! I am fresh out of vegetable recipes this morning, but I did happen upon an article that relates to our discussion of Communion in the Catholic Church. It seems like limiting Communion to Catholics is also being talked about in Ireland, as more and more couples are in mixed marriages, and yet want to take Communion together. Maybe this is something about Catholic ritual which is not set in stone, but will change over time. The second half of the article is what is relevant. It sounds like an Irish president was given Communion even though she is not Catholic, similar to what happened with Clinton in Africa:
