I agree, msft is in big trouble. Year to date it's only up 43%, which is just 2.9 times better than the s&p500. And the doj is bound to break them up sometime in the next 15 years, which limits how long they can continue to milk the creamiest monopoly ever. I'm planning on selling in the next 5 to 10 years (when I retire).

imho, Frank

RE: WHY? MSFT has gone through these lawsuits tons of times. It still performs incredibly. They just beat earnings, and dipped a little. In my eyes this is the perfect time to buy, especially with WIN98 coming out soon. The only thin, in my opinion, that will take MSFT's stock down is a market correction.

Microsoft is a company that has performed fantastically and continues to do so albeit at a slowing pace of growth as its size relative to the industry gets bigger and bigger.

My only concern is that the stock price euphoria is running a little bit further ahead than the performance and so it could be in for a sluggish period like last July onwards after a strong runup.

On fundamentals I do see it as overpriced but I don't think anything signficant will happen on that score until or if there is a major correction in the market as a whole.
