OK Scrapps - I'll accept your dare, and come out of my lurk mode. :~) Can you give us relative new-timers some history on this threat? Like who started it? When? Whew - 15,000 posts; at about 20@day thats 750 days. You guys must have seen people come and go alot, I imagine. How come there aren't any female posters? Have there ever been any? (Maybe that's why this thread's so quiet sometimes <gg> ) Of course there's a lot more posting when COMS starts getting in the 35+ range. ***Some interesting COMS news (at least to me and probably Mr. Palm III - D.Lawrence) Yesterday, I got my bi-monthly catalog of O'Reily books (so now you know I'm a Unix programmer - who else would read these things, right? C,C++,Unix, JAVA, Perl, Apache, ... you get the idea right?). Well, guess what book I saw advertised for sale - it really surprised me! :O) They now have an O'Reily book on programming the Palm III. I guess this thing is starting to get serious. (I haven't taken it that seriously yet because I usually only become aware of technology objects when I equate them with making $$ - like my job for instance) Then I started thinking a little bit (yes, I do this occasionally), and wondered, maybe I could create something useful with it. Then, I said to myself, Naah, too much work, unless it gets me a better paying job as a Palm III programmer. But then it hit me, 3Com has the slight (1 in a million) possibility of overtaking Microsoft!! 3Com has it's own operating system on the Palm III I would imagine. And the only reason that Microsoft is such a control freak over its Palm PC is that it wants to be the owner of the Operating System of every Palm PC in the Universe! But, the Palm III is much more popular than the Windows CE. This reminds me of the Netscape Browser vs the Internet Explorer wars last year. So, anyway, maybe if 3Com plays its cards right, every person of the entire civilized world will use a 3Com hand-held Operating System, and maybe it's hand-held computer also. Of course, it that ever happens, I guess I'll have to buy that O'Reily book :~). Have a good weekend - Joe
