Offshore rig count slips by two

HOUSTON: Worldwide offshore rig counts dipped slightly since last week, according to Offshore Data
Services' weekly mobile offshore rig count. Of the 27 rigs without contracts, six are reported by their owners as
being immediately available for work. Fifteen are in shipyards for upgrades, maintenance and/or repairs and the
remainder are not actively marketed for work.

This week, 582 of the world's 609 mobile offshore drilling rigs are under contract, and worldwide offshore rig
fleet utilization is 95.6 percent.

In the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, fleet size remains steady at 176 rigs. However, the contracted rig count declined by
one to 168. Gulf of Mexico rig utilization is 95.5 percent.

In European waters, including the North Sea and Mediterranean Sea, 107 of the 111 mobile offshore drilling rigs
are under contract this week. The European fleet posted a one-rig increase with the arrival of the jackup
GLOMAR ADRIATIC IV from the U.S. West Coast. Fleet utilization remains steady at 96.4 percent.
