Jim, to set up Win95 for internet access, it's not quite as simple as typing in the phone number. You do have to do that too, but there's a whole bunch of other stuff to do. Double-click on the "Internet" icon, and the Internet setup wizard will guide you through setting up a Dial-up Networking connection. You will need to have the instructions for Win95 setup from your ISP also (unless it's something like AOL, which does it for you).

Or you can go through it sans wizard by clicking, in this order: Start button, Settings then Control Panel, then double-click the Internet icon. Click the "Connections" tab. Click "Add" button under "use the following Dial-up Networking connection". You will then type in the dial-up number of your ISP. Under "connect using" on that same Connections tab, click on and go through the "configure" [modem], and "server type" buttons. You will need specific info from your ISP for what to set the modem and server settings to under these two buttons.

that's today's Internet tutorial for Win95.

Now in Win98, it's all different. .......:-) Just joking.
