Hey Rock: Cover that Infoseek short while you're still ahead:

Infoseek
Shaun Andrikopoulos (4/20)

Like other Internet stocks, shares of Infoseek (SEEK:Nasdaq) have been virtually unstoppable lately. Trading at just 4 3/8 last summer, they rose above 40 last week after the $6.7 million acquisition of WebChat Broadcasting System was announced. Shares have since settled back to 33. The stock also has benefited from strong earnings reports from another search engine, Yahoo!, and an optimistic U.S. Commerce Department report on e-commerce.

BT Alex. Brown analyst Shaun Andrikopoulos believes this is just the beginning for Infoseek. The search engine has an attractive audience, but has not yet "exploited it to the same degree as Yahoo and Excite," he says.

"There is great potential for Infoseek to increase revenue from alliances with other companies that want to pitch their services and products on its site," says Andrikopoulos, who rates the stock buy.

WebChat, which has 2.7 million members, should increase Infoseek's traffic by about 10%. Infoseek also has marketing deals with Borders and UPS, "and it could strike up agreements with major brand names in the CD or sports fields," Andrikopoulos says.
