Doug, I can buy Canadian's through my US broker (AccuTrade). However, the process is awkward since they have to get their quote from a Canadian MM that takes a percentage. So my broker AND the Canadian MM make commission each way. Because of that rip-off each way, bad liquidity, large spreads, and crappy Canadian stock performance I swore off Canadian stocks. Wrote a large note to myself never to do it again, or shoot myself. I have that note on my desk with a loaded .45 auto setting on it as paperweight. I may make a slight exception for IPMC though. I understand that a US broker (Greenline?) specializes in Canadian stocks. I don't have their number.

Doug

What might be the easiest and cost effective thing for you to do is open a U.S. account with a Canadian brokerage firm. I have a few friends in the U.S. that play the Canadian markets this way. For a full service broker I've found Yorkton Securities to be one of the best to deal with. They have offices in Toronto and Vancouver. If your in the west the Vancouver office number is 604-687-2201.
