Hi Dusty, Secret message eggs Hardboil an egg - app. 5 minutes. Allow it to cool. Dissolve a bit of alum in a little vinegar. Alum is found in the pharmacy or in the grocery store with pickling supplies. Use this solution to write on the eggshell using a toothpick. Once the egg is dry, it will look perfectly normal. When the shell is later removed, the writing will be visible on the egg's surface. This does not render the egg inedible; alum is not toxic. It is used in canning, and is what gives pickles the pucker. I will try this one with my daughter soon. Bob
