Bob: Companies just have to understand that if they are interested in keeping the individual investor as part of their shareholder base, they must open the pipeline to the free flow of information.

I follow quite a few companies and it is quite amazing to see how different they are at approaching this issue. I follow one company that while it does not make the cc replay available in any form to the individual investor via telephone, it does send a tape within 5 days after the call (Q & A) included to listen to while you are driving around town.

UTEK has 125 lines available to listen to the cc live. So at any one time, there are only 125 people who have first hand information of what took place during the Q & A. This is not a good idea, IMHO, especially given the propensity of late for the short sellers to be hanging around UTEK. When there is a roadblock in the information pipeline, short sellers are free to spin their tales relatively unchallenged.

If a company is reluctant to make information available to the individual investor, I am more apt to shop elsewhere.

Add KLAC to the list that excludes the individual investor.
