If RNTK needed Ball just for this TX negotiation, why not just contract him? Just have him show up at a meeting w/ TX lawyers - that would still scare TX if that was your intent. Even most major oils use outside counsel to a great extent. Why put him on the board - that is the question.

Personal opinion -- while all this speculation is entertaining on a quiet weekend, I see this Board addition and the previous one ... disremember his name, right now ... as being the normal type of steps that a well-managed company would take as it tries to grow itself.
