I usually buy for the long time horizon, but from time to times, particularly in the semi, the waters get quite stormy, that is where I try timing. If you look at CYMI, we have not gone anywhere since I first posted to this thread, as a matter of fact we are at exactly the same price, thus the philosophy of writing covered calls would have worked quite well. My typical investment philosophy is to try and buy after a basing and then stay with that investment for a number of years, raising my stop loss as the stock advances. In the last year, many stop losses have been hit, which indicates to me a change in the market environment ( for instance, I was stopped out of COO after more than two years and from THQI after more than two years, just in the last 8 weeks).

Bob --

I am a buy and hold type. I am still smarting over the disappointment of the 1st qtr numbers and now the next 2 qtrs are flat too (and we have learned that we must take them at their word). And I'm scared when Akins says "U.S. is softening too". That makes me scared for not just Cymer, but the whole stock market. Any weakness that appears will hurt this market that is valued at record levels. Is Cymer the canary in the coal mine?

I own 1000 shares avgd at 18. I may just take a needed Cymer vacation for 6 months and sell next week and get back in the fall (even if I have to pay more then). I hope I get $24/share.

Mike

P.S. ScottMCL -- fantastic job on the transcript. I very much appreciate the obvious hard work that went into it.

Bob, Zeev, it looks as if the 3-Sigma bands are at about 15 and 30 with a mean of 22.5. Its reasonable to expect the stock to cycle between 19 and 26 over the next few months. Might make sense to sell half position here and buy it back at 20, sell at 24, etc. until next earnings. Have sold 20% CYMI on Friday and will sell another 20-30% over the next couple of days. Several of us are both investors and traders. I am long term (over 5 years eg., CSCO) years with about 50% of portfolio, 25% med-LT (over one year, eg., CYMI) and trader on the remaining 25% plus on additional 0-25% margin. Tulvio
