Not much different from the situation at HP. I don't think we're shipping anything with the VX chipset anymore, but certainly we use a lot of those "BigFoot" hard drives too: inexpensive, bulky and generally slower than anything I'd put in a machine for myself.

I don't think we'd dream of putting that kind of equipment in one of the business machines, though I can's say for sure because I don't deal with those product lines at all.

I think there'll have to be a lot of consumer education and a major shakeout in the industry before we start seeing the tradeoff of cost vs. quality in the retail channel. For now, you're really at the mercy of your cheapest competitor.
