Not because of the K6 but they were using an Intel VX chipset in the mobo and a Quantum "slow"foot hard drive < Not much different from the situation at HP. I don't think we're shipping anything with the VX chipset anymore, but certainly we use a lot of those "BigFoot" hard drives too: inexpensive, bulky and generally slower than anything I'd put in a machine for myself. I don't think we'd dream of putting that kind of equipment in one of the business machines, though I can's say for sure because I don't deal with those product lines at all. I think there'll have to be a lot of consumer education and a major shakeout in the industry before we start seeing the tradeoff of cost vs. quality in the retail channel. For now, you're really at the mercy of your cheapest competitor. mg
