The family of a friend of mine now living in Guatemala, some years ago had a crooked auditor who embezzled over several years and then suddenly skipped town. The IRS hit them for huge back taxes claims. The company was literally seized by the government. Several houses of brothers, cousins, uncles of those involved were seized and my friend, who was not closely enough involved with the family business to have property seized, was audited every year over a period of years. The most disturbing aspect of the whole story was that the IRS seized a grave yard plot and had a family member disintered and the plot sold off to pay owed tax. --Alan
