Marcos,

Thank your kindly for the thread! Majority of Mexican Jewish community, do come from the Eastern Europe. Safardim wouldn't have
dreamed of going to Mexico, where the inquisiton and the rule of Spain
was strong! Instead they followed the Dutch to Surinam, Curaca•. When
the Portugese recaptured Brazil in 1645, they scaped in all direction.
Some came back to Europe and some to English holdings in Carabiean!

They first wave of the Safrad arrived on a Dutch Colony in New York and built its first Syangougue, Shaearith Isreal on Mill Street!

Long before Ashkanizm came to North America. Safradim where thrieving in all the five colonies. They wanted to be left alone becasue there was such antaganism between protestants and catholics that the only path to the survival was toloration!

There was only one case of persecution in 1650's when Jacob Lumbrozo
a Mayland merchant was charged with blasphmy becasue he had denied the
christ!

Marcos,

I am interested to discuss the the Reconquista, Inquisiton, and Expulsion of Safardim from Spain! I think it is a great subject
to discuss where we can exchange inforamtion and learn! We should
do it on a seperate thread, becasue I am interested in historical
facts and not fantasey! What do you think?

Kind regards,

Yaacov
