<Which reminds me - will the Slot 2 be announced before the RELIABLE 100 MHz Socket 7 boards are available?>

Considering the poor electrical characteristics of the socket7 design, it is no suprise that vendors are having trouble reaching 100mhz. Intel has a real advantage with their GTL+ bus. It almost makes it easy to scale to higher frequencies. 133mhz should be the next step for Intel with little to stand in their way. What would prevent Intel from doing a 2x on the GTL bus, just like the AGP bus, boosting them to 233mhz?
Answer... nothing...

Socket7 however has real problems with noise reflections etc and chipset suppliers are pulling out their hair trying to get socket7 to run at that even 100mhz. GTL+ makes it a breeze.

AMD is locked into an obsolete socket7 and years behind.
