First of all thanks a bunch for visiting the thread and participating, much obliged.

Regarding VSNL & MTNL,unfortunately they are not traded as ADRs but are I believe as GDRs.However I do believe they plan to list in the US as ADRs,but do not know the details.They are both government monopolies,VSNL in long distance and MTNL provides service in Delhi & Bombay, I think.The government has divested part of the companies through domestic public issue and of course the via the GDR.

Telecom in India is a growth business as majority of the people still do not have phones.One can indirectly participate in Indian telecom business through Nokia,Ericsson,Iridium,U.S West,Motorola etc as they all have presence in the market,and then of course you got the mutual funds.
