How many "beverages" had been consumed before this "fact" came up?

The only beverage strong enough to make that thinking work is some of that special california kool-aid. In case no one was looking, more than 50% of CPQ's business comes from desktops. Next we'll hear that HWP is getting out of the computer and printer business to concentrate on their medical instruments business... Someone was pulling your leg.

It only makes sense to me if what they really mean is more like what Microsoft wants... no more desktops in the home, but total networks, with all appliances, and terminals (used-to-be-PCs) in every room, the basement, and the garage, and in the car. So, no longer in the desktop biz, but in every single other conceptual place under different names. (g)

Howard,

I find this hard to take. Every computer store, every publication and newspaper and mail order catalog I look at has all kinds of CPQ ads of desktops, which goes to tell me that this is really the bread and butter of CPQ. Or else, why expend so much in ads? Now then, how on earth are they going to replace this much revenue source out of the blue if they were to abandon desktops. Use your common sense my friend. This "high up" Tandem fellow must have been high from somethig. IMO, it is a ridiculous idea. I hope it is not true for the sake of all of us who are long CPQ. Peace!

First I have a question, Howie: What products would CPQ be marketing if desktops are dropped? Going with this, can you please specify what different directions the growth would come from if desktops are dropped?
