(Disclaimer -- the following should not be taken too seriously )

We now have a prediction for when the market will crash...

Yesterday, for entertainment purposes, I picked up one of those free New Age newspapers you see in a stack by the door at big bookstores.

In this newspaper, "Planetary Connections", they have a "Maharishi Vedic astrology prediction for the year 1998" that includes the following:

"We can also see that the stock market will not be stable. For May, a minor crash may be foreseen, and for September/October a major one. Fluctuations and instability of currencies will continue this year, and also the trend for growing unemployment will continue."

Maybe, this guru, the Maharishi, has been reading the material at Fiend's site ( fiendbear.com ) and is looking to protect his investments...

bearshark: another inflationary factor: the cost of health care is reported to be going up at double-digit rates in the next two years, the HMOs have to pass the costs along to employers, who intend to pass the cost along to employees and/or cut employees to compensate for the additional burden. This is the single highest overhead cost per employee at most companies. Escalating drug costs were cited as a partial cause of the increases.
