Viagra as preventive medicine? Here's an excerpt from a NY Times April 21 article:

Erectile dysfunction, as impotence is clinically known, is estimated by
specialists to affect 30 million American men. But not all men who have
gone to doctors' offices for Viagra prescriptions suffer from impotence,
these experts say. Many apparently want to have their sexual stamina
improved.

While Pfizer officials have repeatedly emphasized that Viagra is not an
aphrodisiac, Dr. Irwin Goldstein, a urology professor at Boston
University, said he believed that the drug might prevent erectile
dysfunction, or ED, if men with normal capability took it every night. If
such results are borne out in the study, this could greatly increase Viagra's
potential market.

"We have seen how people who want to prevent heart attacks can take
aspirin," Goldstein said. "The same may be true with erectile dysfunction
and Viagra. Men who take it at night report having good nocturnal
erections, which may prevent ED over time."

So, Richard, your projection may even be too conservative! But can we afford to take it every night?

>>use it, here is a conservative estimate of sales in 2000:

#Men #Women
USA 10M 2M
Foreign 20M 4M

Total: 36M * 1 pill/week * 52 weeks * $7 = $13.1 billion<<

Richard, I would say the estimate is conservative! Twice a week average may not not be too far fetched... so, that would be $26 billion!

Any one knows the estimate for the cost of a pill? I'm wondering what the margin is.
