Michael, Good analysis! One thing that I've wrestled with is how Banshee will be positioned. Assuming they could deliver whatever they wanted in terms of performance, what would it do? You mentioned:

<<TDFX will sink if Banshee isn't as powerful as a Matrox Millenium II and the Voodoo II combined. Banshee only has to be a good performer, not an excellent performer. The reason, once again, is Voodoo's content advantage.>>

My initial reaction to the question was that it would not be to their benefit to deliver Voodoo II quality or greater because the boards would compete with each other. However, after some thought, I think that is exactly what they should do. I am assuming that the combined 2D/3D card would be a little more expensive or would have slightly fewer features. Most people who already have a 2D/3D card would probably opt to go for the cheaper add-in with the better features than replacing their current 2D/3D card. However, from a new PC view, it would make more sense to buy the OEM's PC with the Banshee board already installed than to get some other competitor's board and upgrade with a 3D accelarator. Assuming I am correct, this puts TDFX in a super strong position until this time next year. How does this sound to you technology guys? Anyway, I was a little concerned about Banshee because people were saying that it would require two chips and would thus cost more. However, voodooextreme quotes the company saying that the Banshee will also be only one chip. This was great news to me and I am anxious to see it it unveiled. Joe C.

Michael & all your thoughts

Is it possible that the brokerage houses that cover TDFX are keeping the earnings estimates low, thus giving a kick to the managed portfolio's of there most wealthy investors. I am grasping to understand what is going on with the estimates, Nobody can consistantly miss numbers this bad and remain employed on the street.
