We understood the meaning - I was actually kind of tickled by how it was portrayed. We're becoming more and more a virtual world - I can't count how many peers who frequent SI I consider good friends. Yet, the absence of the "in-person" does leave something lacking in the relationships.

Humm, maybe we can convince GNET to sponsor a users conference.... I'm sure the on-line brokers, and the likes of Briefing.com, Quote.com, etc. would like to display their wares.

Any takers out there?

How about getting the "Cats & Dogs" portfolio added to the e-commerce start message
(like TLindt did for the "Blue Chippers"). Then we have easy access to both portfolios.

FWIW.

Would it be possible to add a second portfolio to e-commerce thread labeling TLindt's the Core Portfolio or Blue Chip Portfolio

techstocks.com

and adding this as the e-commerce Cats and Dogs in the opening post of the thread

The second portofolio

techstocks.com

represents stocks that don't meet the threshold for inclusion for the first but are in the e-commerce sector.

Brad, I think the "view last 25 messages" in the subject index ( I just discovered it) is very close to what many of us have been asking for on a thread basis. I clicked on it and 25 messages loaded just about as quickly as one message loads. If the same thing were implemented as an option for threads it would facilitate reading popular threads. As some popular threads have in excess of 100 posts per day an option to read more than 25 or several groups of 25 would be beneficial.

Congratulations

Zeuspaul

In looking for the "last 25 messages" feature, I noticed another new feature: "Find related subjects". I tried it with a few different familiar threads and was amazed at how well it functioned. How does it work - perhaps by checking overlapping posters?

SI never ceases to amaze me with new and useful features.

BTW congratulations on your well deserved good fortune.

Hi Brad,

A technical question. I would like to find THE reply in the NYRR thread that contains the words "trash barge carolina" and 120 days won't do it, it is last year. (And not my most recent post.) How can I search just this one thread for just those three words?

Thanks, 246810

Brad,

I would have to echo 246810's question, though a little more broadly. Searching for phrases would make a real difference, as would being able to retrieve say the next 50 matches if there are more, as would limiting by the thread, as would limiting to a specific poster, as would being able to review the "Folders" InBox, OutBox, being able to go backwards 50 at a time, as would . . .

So I realize once you start opening up the can of worms of accessing the database with searches, our lists can grow unbounded. I know that is only so much of you too, and this work could be quite consuming. But at the same time you headline the fact that we have 4 million posts here. I think making the posts that are there more accessible would be a huge value added.

It's all jmho, but I for one would find it a big time saver to have upgraded search capabilities.

Best Wishes

Brad, on the UTI thread, there is no link above the posts for "Earnings". What does it take on any thread for features like this to appear the first time?
