Mark- I read the same report , and it struck me as a bunch of BS too.
I have ordered from both Amazon and B & N , and I find the "user experience " to be pretty much the same. As you say , it can be easily and quickly modified in any event , by either entity.
I'll tell you something interesting , though - I ordered from B & N two
weeks ago today ( 4/11 @ 11 a.m. CST to be exact - I noted the time ) and received the book in the mail on Wednesday , 4/15 at
1 p.m. It was sent priority mail. That's faster than I have ever gotten a book from AMZN - they can take over a week to get it to me , in some cases. I live in a large metro area. B & N also had a really slick little form that came in the package - a combination invoice , mailing label (which was on the outside of the package ) , and return mail sticker (if you needed it) all on one page. It looks to me as though they are running a first-class online operation , and are playing for keeps. The input form for entering the credit card , address etc. worked every bit as well as Amazon's , and they sent me the same E-mail confirms for the order , the shipment going out, etc. Anybody can do this , I guess.
