Correct

Which is why the final Wintel assault on the S/390 business won't happen for another five+ years. However, by 2005 this battle will be over and S/390 will be a niche business catering to the remaining stragglers. Victorian England was the dominant power for so long it seemed the reign would never end, but an upstart US eventually supplanted it on the world stage and Britain had to adjust to the new reality. IBM faces a similar transition. It was the unquestioned leader of computing in the 20th century but it will cede that role to Wintel in the 21st. How IBM handles that transition will determine the long-term success of its shareholders.
