Targetzero: re: email address.

It's there in my SI profile for people who want to contact me with a legitimate technical question (techies don't normally discuss low level technical details with the general investing public) or additional facts on a stock I'm interested in. If someone were interested in harvesting that information from all SI profiles (yours included), they could do it easily enough. That, however, could be considered invasion of privacy. Anybody harvesting email addresses would be frowned upon by SI management.

Registering with a newsletter (or any other electronic publication, for that matter) is somewhat different. In that case, I would be the one voluntarily initiating the transmission of my email address to a marketing firm, and the privacy invasion argument becomes much murkier. Many firms accepting subscriptions by email provide a selection box to allow a subscriber to allow or disallow sharing of the email addresses. Unfortunately, the default is usually "allow".

Incidentally, in a prior post (https://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=4051174), you said you would post the information you collected from "several software distributors". I'd like to see that post.
