Your post is well thought out, with a lot of research being done to arrive at your position!

How much time do you see? Do you see the Y2K problem possibly triggering the 'downturn'? (dare I say 'collapse'?)

It will be interesting what the effects of el-nino have, as we have seen weather before predicting food problems, only to find that there were 'bumper' crops. Time will tell, but the potential is definitely there, (IMHO)

Your scenario is definitely do-able, but by the same token, couldn't the market just do a correction and continue up? The Market has proven to be a 'fickle' lover in the past.
