Lucretius, I'm curious. What economic data would convince you that your dire economic predictions are incorrect, or at least very premature. As I understand it, you are predicting what amounts to a return to the economic conditions the prevailed though much of the 1970's and early 1980's (high interest rates, weakening dollar, high inflation rates, high unemployment, relatively high commodity prices).

As I see it, those conditions were precipitated largely by a monstrous increase in the price of oil (back then OPEC had tremendous clout) leading to world-wide recession, and a guns and butter philosophy in the U.S.
