Amir, Check the SG&A expense. That is where Gateway usually does their blue smoke and mirrors routine. The key is, they wrote off the kitchen sink two quarters ago. By assigning some of current expenses to that writeoff, they reduce expenses, thus boosting margins. Each sleazo co. has their own style of scamming eps. MU loves to futz with inventory, Compaq stuffs the distribution channel, Gateway plays games with SG&A, Cendant just lies. <G> The sad thing is, they learn each others tricks, so you can't always count on them to do the same flim-flam each quarter. And nothing is illegal about any of that, except for Cendant, of course. MB
