Y2K Related?

I'm monitoring the press for signs of big spending cutbacks, etc., which may be related to Y2K spending demands.

Could be one:

Industrial Bank of Japan to Call Off Tie-up With Mondex
Tokyo, April 26 (Bloomberg) -- Industrial Bank of Japan Ltd.
said it will call off a trial of Mondex International Ltd.'s electronic money system in Japan, freezing investment in the project due to high costs estimated at more than 1 billion yen ($7.6 million) per participating bank, the Nihon Keizai said, without citing sources. Sakura Bank Ltd. and Asahi Bank Ltd. said they'll continue examining the project. IBJ's withdrawal from the project could hamper Mondex in the race to establish a Japanese standard for electronic money, the report said. IBJ will offer investors one-year discount bills for a yield equal to 0.502 percent, the bank said in a press release April 24.
