From the latest 10K:

sec.yahoo.com

>> Additionally, in fiscal 1998 the Company expanded its product offerings to include high-performance workstations, and **formed a business unit dedicated to workstations in order to grow this product line**. As a result of these and other opportunities, the Company has announced plans to acquire an additional manufacturing facility in Limerick, Ireland and to construct an additional manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas and a manufacturing facility in Xiamen, China. <<

This is for those investors who see DELL as an almost Omni dimensional boxer. Wake up. They aren't your average boxmaker any more than is CPQ. But why acquire a DEC (with problems and employees that need "right-sizing", etc.) or GTW (too expensive), when you are effective at creating these divisions yourself more efficiently and economically?

DELL is out to be the global leader in the business environment, **the most lucrative segment of PC's and everything related to them**. They are forming working relationships with companies like ADIC for server tape libraries, and Clariion for fibre channel data storage.

IMO, this is where the money is, especially for 1998 and beyond. For all those who think DELL is running out of PC end-user customers, and are therefore facing a shortfall, wake up. You and I "getting our cookies" on a new home system are a very small part of the DELL picture for 1998.

Data storage, alone, is expected to generate $50B for the industry at large over the next five years, and DELL is positioning themselves for their share.

Thanks Peace you are too kind.

'The boys down in Houston' is good but the 'The boys up in Austin' is better. The former has a complicated story to tell where as the latter a simple one and that is Dell sells customized computers directly to their customers, ask the same question to the boys in Houston and they will tell you a story so complicated one would have no idea what the heck they are talking about. Look at a comparison chart of stocks for the last few years and you will know one of the reasons why Dell is a better investment than the rest.If you ever decide to get in on DELL I am pretty sure you won't regret it,at least for the next 2-5 years, just my opinion.

Good luck and good investing.
