FWIW, Monday's IBD blurb "Taiwan Chipmakers to put $79 Bil. into new facilities." The investment drive, to be made over the next 13 years, will likely secure Taiwan's status as the world's top chip supplier. United Microelectronics leads the investment stampede with plans for $18.8 billion for two wafer plants. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, Acer, and Macronix International are among others. Projects include wafer fabrication, packaging and testing plants.
