I saw GSCO a few weeks back, on YURI I think, trying to buy all they could but it was moving so they went to the ask to try to keep price down. They also stayed at best bid. I've heard MM's may often sacrifice 5-10K shares so as to accumulate the larger position they want for whatever client.
