Irby,

I would appreciate opinion from you or anyone here about the following incident.

I placed a market order to buy 1000 shares of SFA on Thursday (4/23/98) electronically. The stock was at 22 5/8 - 3/4. My brokerage software showed that the order was filled at 22 3/4. The stock was stopped after a few minutes due to imbalance and opened at 26. I sold at 25 1/2 after it came down a little.

Next morning, the account report showed that I bought SFA at 26 (and there was no trace of 22 3/4)! I called this big brokerage firm from Boston and they said the 22 3/4 price was a bad fill from NYSE and NYSE have corrected and the brokerage firm can't do anything. I was amazed that no one told me until the next morning till I initiated the call after finding someone stole my money! I told them I have saved the screenshots of their software showing I got filled at 22 3/4. It shows all the details about the order with the date but there is no time stamp.

Any suggestions on this matter?

Thanks
