Diana, re: money coming out of tech stocks. H&Q has their annual tech conference starting this week. Last year stocks started popping up around this timeframe after a very bad late Feb/March/April. I think (dangerous, I know), that we may see some more buying on many of the stocks presenting over the course of the next few days. There are ~ 250 presenters. So we may see 1 more tech run before the money gets rotated out. Or may not :-) The full list of presenters can be found at thestreet.com site.

Off Topic: Will lots of Tech-stock money be looking for better prospects?

The PC as a driver for semiconductor equipment sales is not as strong as it was. For how the industry might turn look toward Taiwan and the purchases they are making and forget the DRAM manufacturers.

Still plenty of money to be made in technology related to internet infrastructure. Selective acquisition of the major players in the area would be prudent just like accumulating offshore oil drillers in Jan 1998. It is not yet the bottom, but the bottom is closer than the top at this point for most of the leaders in next generation hardware.
