DVD will be big in China. 1/2 of all DVD players sold world wide, in 1999, will be sold in China. DVD costs 3 or 4 pigs, VCD is just 1 pig. There will be very few DVD disks in China, this year and they will cost 3 or 4X as much as a VCD disk. You don't need a DVD player yet. It will be years before title creation in DVD is anywhere close to the number of VCD titles that are availible.

By Chinese New Year, we will see a three tier digital video player market. VCD at the low end, Super VCD in the middle, and DVD at the highend. All of the higher end machines will play the VCD disks.

C-Cube does not want to see VCD go away. Today, and for the next few years, it pays the bills
