I admire your optimism vpelt. There is something you have to consider
though. Y2k is without historic precedent. We are talking about the
possibility of the systemic failure of our life-support infrastructure.

The problem is so pervasive that it is hard to say where it doesn't
exist. After weighing all available evidence I have come to the
conclusion that y2k will make the Depression and the oil crisis look
like nice summer walks on the beach. Don't get me wrong though. I
think that in the long run humans will adapt and rebuild society, but
the short term effects are going to be chaotic. I don't say this in
the hopes to spread fear, only to wake people up so that they can make
some simple preparations and in turn spread more awareness in the
hopes that we can make the landing a little easier.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
