Don, My letter to Congress:

Senator Barbara Mikulski
709 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510-2003

Dear Senator Mikulski:

I respectfully request that you vote against the McCain Bill in its current form. We do not need to add seventeen (17) new federal bureaucracies. The citizens of this country deserve fewer governmental regulatory agencies, not more.

The McCain Bill contains provisions that are clearly in direct conflict with the Constitution. As a United States Senator, I would expect you to vote against any bill with provisions that oppose America's fundamental rights.

The tobacco industry is undoubtedly unpopular at the current time; however, lack of public support is not cause to not strip it of its Constitutional rights and legislate it out of business.

This issue is about money, not underage smoking, as the official statements would have us believe. It is an attempt to increase taxes without putting the "spotlight" on Congress. I would expect you to give the average citizen more intellectual credit and vote against the McCain Bill.

Don,

Where can I enlist to serve in your army of tobacco faithful? ;) I've already written to my Reps, and I've hit some of the key pols in this debate, so I guess I need to give them some time before I begin my second wave.
