think its just a MM trick to attract option sellers before an expected move. I saw
this several times that immediately after a filled bid the ask was raised scalping the
option buyer afterwards.

When the MMs do not know which direction the market will go, I would expect a
big spread when the vola is high.

yeah this could be it

except that for the most part the SPX options have a big spread all the time

there is a definite method to their madness...

just dont have a clue what that madness is except to screw us out of our money

5 points on the RUT might be enough...but it is tough with the SPX unless you poney up for the in or at the money options...

of course you can still get a scalp off a 5 point move with out of the money options with a wide spread....but barely ;-)))
