I did a long ramble on the Dell thread on this topic -

IMO Dell is at a crossroads. They have the cash, growth, and market perception to make the moves now that will keep them ahead, but are under huge pressure to instead keep the money machine turning. If they just keep those boilers hot, speed up and don't worry too much about the ice fields, I think they will have a good run for the next few years but then will have serious problems.
