>>>Barb, a buyer can certainly bid anything he/she wants. But are you telling me that you get consistent buy fills at the bid? And after your fills the bid remains the same as before?<<<

And if this is true, then you can certainly sell just as easily at the ask?<<<

I never said it was easy (but you said "never/ever"). It's harder with ISLD because the SOES folks can't hit the bid or take the offer, and it seems that the MMs would rather not oblige. But yes, if there is someone on the other side of the trade on ISLD you get the fill, and yes, this price has gone my way more often than not when it does occur.

>>>If all this is "common", why aren't you just looking for stocks that don't move very fast, and make these trades all day long?<<<

I did at Waterhouse. I got bored with scalping, and Waterhouse would constantly send me reg t calls (they only update once a day) and I'd have to call the account rep and get it straightened out. I really got tired of doing that every day. The main thing that caused me to move to Datek was the availability of shorting garbage stocks like PNDA, and thin issues like KTEL and MARG. I made a lot of money on those 3 issues in the short time since I've moved to Datek. I also have a list of stocks that are thin but move in very predictable patterns, and I'd rather short them at the bid than have the order rejected at the ask.
