Oil price plays an important role in determining the inflation, but, it is not the only one. CRB index tells you more. If you think you are good at chart, take a look at CRB index, see what you can tell us. Commodities like energy, metals are heavily traded in the form of futures, which basically are on margin and short-term contracts. All futures are measured by US$, so if the dollar is relatively strong against other currencies, the inflation will remain low.
