LG Electronics to scale down PC division; focus on PDP and digital TV SEOUL (AFX-ASIA) - LG Electronics Inc said it will scale down its PC division and transfer its marketing and sales department to its LG-IBM joint venture from May in an effort to cut costs and avoid overlaps. It said LG Electronics will be provided with lower-end PC models from Taiwan and China under OEM production from July. An LG spokesman said the company will continue to reduce and pull out of marginal businesses and shift its focus to sophisticated products such as digital TV and Plazma Display Panels. He said LG will invest a total of 1 trln won in its PDP assembly line in Kumi by 2005 and secure annual capacity of 1.2 mln units.
