As for the arguments you mention, the only one of those I may have disagreed with was Exponential.

Well, in fact simple mathematics showed that exponential design would never work. I went over it with a friend who is very familiar with processor architecture, and we quickly realized that almost all the gains in speed would be negatively compensated by the lack of on-chip cache.

About a year later, when Apple dropped the chip, the explanation was precisely that. Lack of cache would make a fast clocked exponential chip report timings similar to those of a slower PowerPC with cache.
